Stock Market Summary
Indian markets shed over 0.6 per cent at the end of the session on Tuesday on heavy selling in Realty, Auto and healthcare stocks amid weak European cues. Both benchmark indices Nifty and Sensex retreated 0.7% and 0.56% respectively. NSE all sectrol indices shut shop in red except IT. BSE both midcap and smallcap indices declined 0.62% and 0.43%. Todays Nifty top gainers were Coalindia, Bhel and TCS while biggest losers include Ultra Cement, NTPC and Jpassociat. Shares of Coal IndiaLtd (CIL) on Tuesday gained over 2% after the company reported nearly 90% jump in standalone net profit for the fourth quarter ended March 31. its shares closed at 308.40, advanced 2.36%. Software services exporter Tech Mahindra's fourth quarter consolidated net profit rose 25 percent year-on-year (37 percent sequentially) to Rs 377 crore. Tech mahindra's share declined 1.57% today. NSE market breadth was negative with advancing of 433 against decines of 849 shares. European stocks retreated from the highest level in almost five years as Carnival Corp. led travel companies lower after cutting its forecasts. Asian shares fell while U.S. index futures were little changed. The global markets important data Monetary Policy Meeting Minutes (AUD) would release at 7:00 am GMT.
